name changes and local publicity

hmm.. that would make a good name for an album :P
ANYWAYS
we've decided to change Kyle's name, since Caely finds it hard to "take him seriously" now because she knows a dude who shares the name Kyle with the loserific character in the Pink Book.
so yes, his new name is Neil.
we had a few names lined up.. they included:
>Kendall
>Nigel
>Neil
>Kevin
>Gavin

we tried to think of some of the worst names we could think of, that still fitted the persona of this character..
shame we didnt think of Dwayne or smthn... :/
so yes..
also, ive noticed that the Pink Book is becoming more infamous throughout our year
more and more people are wanting to read it and see what all the fuss is about.
at this rate, i wont even need to get it published, i'll just get Lousia (a newly recruited fan of the Pink Book) to tell everyone about it
you'll be interested in hearing that it has now been nicknamed (by Roxanna) The Emo Pink Book In Disguise! haha
wonderfully creative on Roxanna's behalf there.. :P

over and out

making progress...!

woot! finally making some sort of progress in the Pink Book after like..... a month xD
yea, was typing it up on Word the other night, and i found myself in a mood to write, so i thought "meh, why not?"
so yes, i now have a joining bit between the "cake" scene and the other bit that goes before it..
its basically just Erika thinking about what types of qualities she looks for in guys.. lol, lame i know.. but it sorta fitted in with what was going on, so DEAL WITH IT!
yes..
flick speaks the truth!
while i was writing i decided to continue on with the scene in which Erika goes to Liz's house, and she finds out that Liz has a boyfriend and two brothers
indeed, one of them is named Jericho (go on, convince me its not a coolness name.. i dare you!), and the other one is currently named Ben..
but this arvo when i was telling flick of my idea, we decided that it would be much more interesting to make Liz's parents hardcore hippies.. and so their first born son (currently Ben) would be called Orion instead :P
like it?? hehe
im so pleased that i finally managed to fit the name Jericho into the story ^_^

YES I DIBS THIS NEWS!!!

ok so teh news isn't all that epic and I have decided to write in a purple/pink colour - for teh lulz :P

anyways so the epic news is this - after much argument about the use of the name "Jericho" for one of Liz's brothers, and much lulz at the name Orion for her other brother - Caitlin and I have decided to make Liz's parents hippies - like EPIC hippies... their house smells like weed man...

and thats the epic news...
now can i have backup on not using the name Jericho - I swear Caitlin comes up to me and says "yeah i thought - what is one name that would really annoy Flick? oh I know!!! JERICHO!!!" and then she proceeded to jump around triumphantly...

in other news... a bunch of Hackers hacked into the computer system that controls the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)... read more here: http://www.smh.com.au/news/biztech/hackers-penetrate-hadron-collider-network/2008/09/14/1221330621555.html

newest excerpt

hey guys,
wow... i havent posted anything on this blog for a longggg time...
so heres something new!
okai, i thought of this idea when i was on the train a while ago.. but i only got around to writing it like.. the other week.. so yes. enjoy!

Excerpt---->
Don't you just hate it when you miss the bus or train by "that much"?! When you waste all your energy, running to the stop just to get there and see the bus pulling away from the curb. And then you look like a complete idiot for even running in the first place!
Now, as far as being a morning person goes... I'm not one. And this morning was, if not worse, no exception.
As usual, I woke up feeling more tired than I had before I went to sleep, the bright morning sun burning my unaccustomed eyes. That familiar pit in my stomach, dreading the day ahead. And that same thought in my mind "I need a holiday...".
I sat up, half expecting to bump my head on the ceiling of an igloo, as a cold chill slithered down my spine making me shiver.
As my feet touched the floorboards, the shock of the stone-cold surface shook me from head to toe.
The unfriendly time of 6:30am kept a steady scowl on my face and added to my bad mood.
Breakfast was non-existant, as it usually was on weekdays, due to my tight schedule, and it seemed as though it was raining just to spite me. As though that wasn't enough, I arrived at the train station just in time to see the train lumber away from the platform, leaving me stranded for another twenty minutes. I could have sworn that my watch had allowed me another five minutes.
Today was definitely not my day.
So, once again, I was left to stand on my own at the station, destined to be late to school for about the third time in two weeks.
I suppose it's not so bad... I had time to think. Sort of peaceful I guess. It was nice to just be on your own once in a while and contemplate your life.
But I was kidding myself if I thought that's what I was doing - there was only one thing that I wanted to think about at the moment, or person rather.
It felt a little juvenile to be completely infatuated with this person whom I was not entirely acquainted with. I felt sort of ashamed of myself, but found solace in the fact that I was no different from any other adolescent in the world.
Thoughts of that first time we spoke filled my head, transporting me to another place. In particular I thought of his voice, his face... that infectious grin. I actually found myself smiling at the very thought of it.
Suddenly, so gracefully and so silently, a figure brushed past me, but doesn't knock me over. As they do so, I hear them murmur "you'll freeze out here without a scarf you know..."
Realising that I know that voice, my entire body stiffens and I turn my head just in time to catch a glimpse of that familiar mahogany hair before the figured moves out of sight.
Despite the weather, I could feel my cheeks burn red as the moment registered in my mind. It had only lasted a few seconds, but that moment - the moment in which he had talked to me - was enough to keep me going for the rest of the day.
I changed my mind - today was definitely my day.
***
Apparently I'd been smiling the whole day - according to Liz. And I woke up this morning in just as good a mood.
I arrived at the station that same twenty minutes late, knowing that I would be late for school. But that didn't matter - today I had a plan.
I waited in anticipation for Nate to arrive at the station as he did yesterday. The seconds dragged on, turning to minutes, until the train finally made an appearance at the platform. The disappointment was visible on my face, but I attempted to hide it, knowing that it would only be cause for suspicion amongst my friends.
All day I was left wondering why he hadn't turned up. I suppose it was to be expected - maybe he, too, had simply been late to the station yesterday and that today he had caught an earlier train. Nevertheless, I couldn't help but feel disappointed that I hadn't seen him today.
My distant mind earned me no reward, however, as I was asked to stay twenty-five minutes after class to finish copying down the notes from science.
It seemed I was making it a bit of a habit to catch the train and bus later than intended. There were considerably less people at the bus stop at this time in the afternoon, and the bus appeared to be running late (as expected). I glanced down at my watch without purpose, not really taking note of what the little hands pointed to.
As I looked up from my wrist I was shocked to find Nate standing directly in front of me, staring me in the face. How did he manage to move to swiftly and silently?
I jumped backward slightly, bumping into the brick wall behind me.
"Fancy seeing you here!" he chuckled as a casual greeting.
"Uh... hi!" I choked in response.
Abruptly, he held a brown paper bag with handles out in front of him, towards me. I eyed the bag suspiciously and, in response he said
"For you."
I took the bag in one hand and reached into the bag to feel around for the contents with the other.
Slowly I pulled out a soft, emerald coloured scarf. It was very beautiful, as far as scarves go, and looked as though it had cost a rather sizable amount of money.
"Thank you..." I said in disbelief.
"It matches your eyes" he smiled, "Now you won't freeze!" he laughed.
"I could have just forgotten my scarf at home" I replied, perhaps a little more defensively than was necessary.
He raised an eyebrow and said, in a tone of seriousness, "Twice in a row? You're not an idiot, that much I know."
I blushed and looked away.
"Well, must be off! Things to do. Enjoy the scarf!"
With that he turned and made his way up the street.
"Thanks again!" I called before he melted into the crowd.
The scarf was warm and had a wonderful smell. Perhaps that was what Nate smelled like too...?
This was an afternoon I would remember for a long time."

see? i HAVE catered for all the hopeless romantics out there! :P

new excerpt

hey guys,
today I thought of another scene to add to the story..
its meant to be a little after Nate and Erika are a bit more familiar with each other (and I mean that in a non-sus way, ok!?)

aite, so heres the basic gist of it:
At some point Erika is in the library, hunched over her school books, trying to finish her homework. suddenly, Nate appears behind her and throws a book down on the table. he recommends the book to her (but is actually using this as a tool to make conversation). then he sits down at the table, opposite Erika. they have a conversation and, after Nate leaves, Erika finds a note which he must have slid to her without her noticing. on the paper are Nate's homework notes from class, and at the bottom of the page - his number.

ok, so basically this scene was aimed at showing Nate's interest in Erika. it also shows that he's made the effort to go and talk to her in public..
any thoughts?

new name

aite guys,
i know some of you were a bit unsure bout Nate's last name. well, i can safely announce, now, that his surname has been changed.
his real name is now:
*drumroll*
Nathaniel James Fletcher
or just Nate Fletcher (as he is known in the story)

aite, that took me and Flick ages to decide on, so too bad if you dont like it now!
some of the other surnames we had included:
Walker, Hayden, Faulkner, Parish and Fielding..
so yar, thats it.
laytr!

WOOT!!!

As i am beautiful and intelligent and all that jazz I have managed to make my life and Caitlins life that much easier. I realised that If I made my current account an author of this blog then I wouldn't have to keep signing in and out when I wanted to change something - brilliant eh?

Proposed Playlist

hey guys,
aite, so i've began to compile some songs into a playlist in order to suit the story.
the only problem is that im having trouble thinking of songs to use..
so here's how its gonna work:
you guys are gonna help me think of songs. im gonna give you the basic gist of a particular excerpt and then im gonna tell you which song i thought was suited to it. if you think there's a particular song which is better suited to the excerpt, please tell me!

okai, so the first excerpt is the opening scene, in which we see Erika sitting with her group at lunch time. she's staring at this guy that she finds really fascinating. so this guy is really antisocial, like SERIOUSLY! he doesnt talk to anyone, he doesnt sit with anyone, etc.. but at the same time hes still top of the class. (one smart kid, huh?). but yea, basically her "friends" dont notice, coz they dont actually like her very much and they dont really care bout her.
pretty much this scene introduces some of the characters whom we encounter further on in the story.
for this excerpt i thought the song "Newport Living" by Cute Is What We Aim For would be kinda suited... the song basically talks about people who become really "popular" and sell out. they become someone theyre not.

any thoughts?

Blooper #1

ok, so here's a blooper that Flick and I wrote agess ago when we were going crazy.
I think it actually started when Flick said we should include the line "oh snap" in there, and also the line "your face!".
so it was decided that we should write a blooper of one of the scenes..
this particular scene was the dream that Erika has...
btw: this scene is best read aloud and in a suspenseful, fortuneteller sorta voice :P
enjoy!

"There was something that told me I was not alone. I whirled around.
'Looking for someone?' said a dark voice. I couldn't see who or what had said it, but I knew it was nothing of this world.
'Your face!' was my reply. I hadn't meant to say it, but my body seemed to be beyond my control. There was silence then; as if the thing were trying to think up a witty retort. Then finally the silence was broken.
'Oh snap...'"

so yar. thats only a snippet of the original dream sequence.. but we thought it'd be too long to create a completely alternative one.
any thoughts?

The Plot (no.. we haven't lost ours!)

aite, so here's the basic gist of the story, just incase you'd like to know:

"A girl from a group of popular girls is not very happy with her choice of friends. Her school life and her home life are troubling her. She wants a change. She has been studying a boy at her school who doesn't have any friends; he's completely antisocial. But at the same time, he's top of the class for grades. He acts very strange and this girl wants to know why.
When these two teenagers' paths collide, they find out that they are not so different from each other."

Characters:
>Erika Michaels (age 17)
>Nate Hardwood (age 18)
---
>Hannah Massey (popular girl)
>Elizabeth Conner (friend)
>Kyle Sterling (loser)
>Dusty Hansen (Elizabeth's BF)

School: Middleton Private High

sound interesting? well.. i might start typing it up in this blog a little later on, but i cant be bothered atm..
aite, thats all for now.
laytr all

Pink Book Blog

Right... so because I was bored one day I decided to make a blog for the pink book that Caitlin and I (Flick) are writing in and the story it contains. OK so Caitlin's writing in it and I'm providing input... but the blog was my idea aren't I briliant?

actually - please don't answer that, the answers might be embarrasing

So... what is this blog for? I have no idea. Really I don't, I just thought that it would be a good idea :/
I think the idea is that Caitlin and I provide running commentary on how the pink book is going and ask for peoples input... such as when caitlin was madly coming up with band names and I was refusing to use most of them... and we had no idea what to do

for those who care we decided on The Untrust Society (Caitlin you are legend... without the flesh eating zombies)

So there you have it... The Pink Book now has its own blog. Great an inanimate object has a blog - well its the internet, I'm sure wierder things have happened (4chan for example?)
